I have been doing catch up on my paperwork. July starts our new year so I must tidy up last years paperwork and implement changes for the new year. I would rather be tarred and feathered than to do paperwork. I am like a kid trying to do homework and I want something to drink. Then I have to pee. I grab a snack on the way back from the bathroom. Then I need to take this call. After all of this I need a break from that paperwork and havent gotten a damn thing done. It just drags on.
On the homefront all is well. The garden is still bountiful, Tomatoes are all the rage this week. We gave several grocery bags full away. We have par-boiled and frozen 9 gallon bags of tomatoes. We have 14 tomatoe plants and there is about 30 pounds of them in my sink right now.
I am so excited ~ MY EGGPLANT IS THRIVING!

I have babied these plants so much. I have not had successful eggplant in years. I looked online and found out New Jersy is the eggplant capitol. Well, I live in Georgia - but I was determined. I sat in the garden and picked bugs off my eggplant by hand! I wanted to be organic so bad. I finally gave in and dusted them with sevin dust #10. The bugs are gone the plants are growing into bushes and producing very well.
The peppers love the heat we have had. We have enough Jalapenos to supply the local trailer park we call (Taco Village). The bell peppers gave a good first round now they are on the second round and not large enough to pick yet.
The corn has come and gone ~ the window for corn is very small. We really just plant corn for fun. It makes the garden look good :) Then I have free Halloween decorations! I have about a dozen ears frozen.
I have just discoved I can no longer post pics it says

I'll email you some screen shots and instructions on what I think the issues are. Give me time, it's tedious bs. ACK! Just let me know if they help.
PS - Next year, YOUR planting my garden. :)
Honestly, I go through the whole "no pic" thing at least once a week. Then I clean my browser, unplug the machine - and viola! It works again. Don't know what the magic bullet is...I am like a lab rat that keeps pressing levers until the right thing happens.
(also, I really like your BlogSpot - it's very fresh and crisp.)
And YES about the paperwork and the kid with homework analogy. That is exactly what I am dealing with right now as we speak. *sigh*
;)t
Thanx Stephen and Terri,
It seems to be okay today. That really freaked me out and was such a huge bummer.
I'm smiling now.
How wonderful.....you have all those wondeful fresh vegetable to eat. :) I'm just dropping by to say Aloha! Take it easy!
I am reliving memories of my own garden of a million years ago, through you. How I loved watching all that hard work produce those works of art! That first tomatoe! Sweet corn, picked, shucked, steamed and eaten within 30 minutes!
My eggplants did so well (4 plants) that I traded with a local restaurant for dinners. They were prolific! To rid the plants of those little bugs, get cayen pepper and sprinkle over the wet leaves -top and bottom- the little buggers make nests on the underside of the leaves! If you ever get corn worms (for next year) get some mineral oil and put it in a squeeze bottle with a narrow tip then, as the silks begin to form, squeeze the oil down into the tops of the corn ears.
I have lots of other natural bug repelent remedies if you need them.
HI KAT: Use black pepper or cayenne to keep off the bugs from your vegetables and the critters from eating on them. LOoks like you have some great stuff in that garden..I am so hungry for fresh beggies that don't cost a fortune. Things are slow here in some places..LOrdie it is august already and some are just now getting their gardens going good. Late spring didn't help any either. I too have had trouble with blogger with pics..it will pass..they have their worries too just like msn! take care... : )
Oh Kat! What a bountiful feast you're showing off! I never developed a taste for eggplant but I do SO love the color of them! My tomatoes are finally coming into their own. We ate a beautiful 4 inch Beefsteak tomatoe last weekend, fresh off the vine. YUMMY!
BTW, I had some trouble uploading pics this past weekend too. Seems that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Kinda' like MSN but not nearly so sloooow. I think the old reboot works because it clears your cache files and allows for more cookies to come streaking in the door. You probably do need to make sure your system is setup to accept cookies though. It's under Tools/Internet Options/Privacy (set it lower). That's the two best suggestions I have. And even then, I still get that message on many Microsoft sites from time to time.
Oh, to answer your query from my other site- NO there is no scotch in my Scotch Butter Cookies! I think they're scotch because the original recipe came from Scotland. Just a guess there, but it's the best answer I could come up with on short notice! :)
Oh oh, Oprah's on. Gotta' git! :) See ya' later!
I'm not exactly sure if aubergine is the same as eggplant, or just the name for a similar vegetable in Europe, but how I love the name and the color! Aubergine, Aubergine, Aubergine!
(MSN went 'live'...I couldn't access it for about a week. Surely, you don't really want to go back).
Wow! I am so so jealous of your veggies. My tomatos are producing, and the mint is going crazy!
Wow, veggies are lookin good!
I'm gonna go read Jon's blog. Antiqua huh? Sounds wonderful!
